John Jones officially retired from DCI after 21 years of service on October 16, 2020.
Jones joined DCI in 1999 as COO and served as President and CEO since the untimely death of A.J. Krail in late 2003. During his tenure, Jones completed—and expanded—Krail’s vision to transition the company from legacy mainframe technology to the cloud-based, API-driven iCore360 core banking software, and led the company through multiple successes in market expansions, data center modernizations, business acquisitions and profits.
A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Jones began his banking career in 1978 as a programmer and analyst, quickly moving into leadership roles overseeing technical operations at large southeastern banks and data processing providers before being appointed CIO of a major technology company in Florida. From 1988 to 1997, John served as VP of Operations for the EDS/Newtrend Division and then at HTE where he was responsible for establishing an Outsourcing Division and served as Director of Resource Management.
Jones also served the Hutchinson community as former Cluster Co-Chair on the Blueprint for Regional Economic Growth Initiative, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Hutchinson, and former board member of the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber and the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Jones received a fond virtual farewell among hundreds of DCI employees and customers at the close of the 2020 DCI banker conference in early October with comments from his successor, Sarah Fankhauser, saying that he will be very much missed, but not forgotten, and with much appreciation and best wishes in his retirement with his family in Oklahoma City.
