Systems Manager

The Systems Manager is responsible for the physical servers, server virtualization, storage, and backup technologies supporting the servers and applications that enable DCI’s business.  Additionally, the Systems Manager is responsible for the Linux /UNIX servers and database technologies.  The Systems Manager manages, trains, and guides the Sr. Technical and Technical Engineers in his/her team and is responsible for hiring and retaining highly qualified personnel. The Systems Manager is also responsible for assisting in the identification and solution of problems, research, and implementation of new technology, and interacting professionally with DCI management, other technical teams, and staff, as well as contacts of member banks. This position requires the ability to travel to various DCI facilities and vendor locations. Overall travel is usually minimal throughout the year, but depending upon circumstances, may be required with only a short notice. In addition to travel, this position is on call for major problems 24x7. Interruptions after normal hours are usually minimal but can obviously vary. Certain processes (Disaster Recovery, System Implementations, etc.) will require time on some weekends or evenings.


Manager, Systems

  • Oversees, plans, organizes, controls, and provides general direction to all activities within the Systems area.
  • Makes personal visits, telephone calls, and writes correspondence to bank customer contacts and DCI employees as necessary.
  • Ensures that Systems delivery methods adhere to DCI standards and best practices, which include a highly personal approach and communication style to all internal and external contacts.
  • Provides maintenance and support for existing solutions for DCI and DCI customers.
  • Ensures that the Systems team possesses the proper knowledge and skills to install, troubleshoot and test required software and hardware.
  • Monitors the overall effectiveness of the Systems team and ensures that internal and external customer needs are fully met.
  • Ensures that DCI’s customer response service levels are maintained and exceeded.
  • Responsible for all Linux / UNIX Server operating systems and deployment thereof.
  • Responsible for all Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases and deployment thereof.
  • Responsible for all physical server hardware located in DCI managed datacenters.
  • Responsible for VMware and Oracle KVM virtualization technologies.
  • Responsible for all Storage and Backup technologies.
  • Responsible for related monitoring and log management processes.
  • Ability to define and document processes.
  • Assess the solutions and equipment to meet the need.
  • Provides new equipment installs for DCI and DCI customers.
  • Available for after-hours support

Supervision and Leadership

  • Performs general supervisory tasks such as completing performance evaluations, salary reviews, disciplinary procedures, departmental meetings, etc.
  • Meets with staff regularly to build rapport, understand concerns, and provide encouragement and assistance towards career development.
  • Provides training and development guidance to assigned staff.
  • Interviews and selects the potential job candidates for his/her department working with his/her management.
  • Other
  • Provides support to staff in his/her department as well as supports functions and duties performed by the Systems department.
  • Is responsible for patch management of the systems managed by this department and for ensuring that patches are applied in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that personal work area and shared areas are maintained in a neat and organized manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Is a member of the Assessment Team – Technical, Business Continuity Management Committee, IT & Systems Recovery Team, and the Site Restoration Team and, therefore, has responsibilities as outlined in our Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years work experience in a related field.
  • One or more related Technical Certification(s).
  • Server Virtualization experience.
  • Storage and Backup experience.
  • Linux / UNIX administration experience is a plus.
  • Banking work experience is a plus.


  • Exposure to technical field and computer knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux / UNIX Operating Systems and ancillary applications required.
  • Strong knowledge of Storage and Backup technologies required.
  • Strong knowledge of server virtualization technologies required.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of data communications.  
  • Exposure to database applications and host communications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DCI and DCI supported applications as they relate to development and support.
