Computer Operator Trainee

Computer Operators are responsible for operating DCI computer equipment in an efficient manner to meet processing deadlines. All Computer Operator job levels require an understanding and familiarity with the functions and operating procedures of each piece of equipment used in DCI operations. Computer Operators should strive to learn and gain as much experience as is possible in the use of each computer application. An objective at all Computer Operator levels is  to look for and be aware of areas where work can be processed more efficiently and effectively and do what is necessary to improve those areas.  This is a night shift on a rotating schedule.

Position Requires:

  • Learns appropriate machine and computer operation procedures, including appropriate uses of all other equipment used during the shift.
  • Learns job stream processing and appropriate flow. (Icore Processing, File Transfers, DCI Environment and ATM monitoring)
  • Learns daily shift and operation processing schedules and strives to meet these.
  • Learns to run shift jobs under normal conditions; must coordinate jobs under abnormal circumstances with a Senior Computer Operator or Data Processing Supervisor.
  • Performs Hot Card procedure on lost or stolen cards as necessary.
  • Performs distribution room duties as needed.
  • Informs Data Processing Supervisor or Lead Computer Operator of all problems and other suggestions. 
  • Learns appropriate library storage system maintenance procedures.
  • Learns how to manage job flow to high speed printers.
